I started Grounded Growth to share my passion for perceiving the good in people and inspiring them to use their inner resources in service of their aspirations.
I ground my practice in positive psychology, mindfulness, and coaching because these approaches are the most effective for meeting challenges and building life satisfaction. Each method prioritizes wellness. They do not pathologize, diagnose disorders, or treat illness. Each assumes that if we make a commitment to grow, we are fundamentally worthy, whole, and resourceful enough to do so.
Why coaching helps
The coaching approach is a good fit for me because it honors the integrity, intuition, and wholeness of the client. Coaching is different from mentoring, counselling, training, teaching, or advising. It is guided self-discovery. A coach is an expert in deeply listening to the real expert- you- in order to challenge, inspire, and hold you accountable to live in alignment with your own objectives. Coaching is solutions oriented and future focused. It gets results.
why mindfulness helps
Mindfulness is an effective practice for strengthening and refining attention and awareness. We achieve the goals that we pay appropriate attention to.
Our brains are hard-wired for our safety- to not get eaten by lions, to eat the most caloric foods possible, and form human bonds so our community embraces us and we can procreate. Do these look like the goals that you are struggling to achieve? The good news is that neuroscience is establishing evidence that our brains can update, and the app for that is Mindfulness. The difficult news is that it’s not a one-time install. Building new neural networks takes time and consistent practice. However, with practice, these neural pathways become stronger and begin to run in the background.
Mindfulness can be practiced anytime, anywhere, by anyone. I look forward to helping you find the mindfulness tools that best fit your growth needs.
why positive psychology helps
Positive psychology is the study of happiness, flourishing, and what makes life worth living.
I value this approach because it provides a wealth of evidence-based life hacks that bring more meaning, purpose, accomplishment, engagement, and positive emotion to life. Positive psychology asks, “What is right with me and my life and how can I use these strengths to build a happy life?”
I look forward to helping you find the positive psychology tools that best fit your growth needs.
